grimboid101 One of the best tracks of 2021. Saw Wu-Lu at EOTR and he was one of my highlights of the weekend. Can't wait to see them live again (hopefully in Southampton!) Favorite track: Times.

Alex Lucas This song and its accompanying video pushed me to pick up a skateboard again after two decades. I didn’t know I missed this, thank you so much.

On another note, I hadn’t followed Wu-Lu since his contribution to the »Afro Chronicles« compilation on the Touching Bass imprint – an early taste of a scene bubbling with talent – and was speechless when I heard what his music sounded like in 2021. Genre is over but more importantly, this is the musical progression of a talent to keep a close eye on. Favorite track: Being Me.

george_sanderson The best thing I've heard all year. It's funky and the guitars crank, menacing yet with warmth. Looking forward to hearing more in this vein. Favorite track: Times.

I took my face and landed on the scrapy underglass I took my face and landed on the scrapy underglass I knew I was born When I knew I was Not made of glass I just took myself and landed one two To see myself from the past It doesn't hurt my mind When I think of the past Coz I took myself and landed on the scrapy underglass These are tuff times For my mind and its design You think your right You think your right The same feeling of nostalgia Just put my brain In the rain My purple Prince will only exist If my minds goes insane Coz I no that life is real But I live it by the hill And I try to figure who we are But the mirror just won't chill These are tuff times For my mind and its design You think your right You think your right These are tuff times For my mind and its design You think your right When the only thing you hold is time You think your right You think your right You think your right You think your right

about

South London vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and producer Wu-Lu shares his latest single ‘Times’ ft. Morgan Simpson of Black Midi on drums.

Setting the theme of self-discovery, coming-of-age and of liberation within oneself to grow. A hunger for change and of youthful revolution is the sentiment throughout, as he looks from an observatory lens at the shifts in areas, people and places in the city he calls home.

Garnering plaudits across the media - with the protest track ‘South’ racing to the 6 Music A-List in a matter of weeks, inclusion in Mixmag’s best tracks of 2021 so far, support from Crack Magazine and Resident Advisor - the pivot to punk and left-field hip hop with a political voice has been truly transformative.

With an innate ability to deliver his unique point of view through an ever-evolving and always innovative sound, Wu-Lu continues to show just why he should be at the forefront of the UK music scene whilst remaining refreshingly underground and relatable. His music is for the underrepresented, for those without a voice, and for those who struggle to break down the barriers. 2021 is the year Wu-Lu rises.
